“There’s one case that always comes to mind when I think about the true impact we can have in this profession. It involved an eighty-seven-year-old woman; a lovely lady, single and retired, living on a fixed income. She received a call from her insurance company about an underwriting inspection. Nothing too out of the ordinary, right? That’s what my client thought, too. She let the inspector in and cooperated fully.
“However, after the inspection, things took a turn. The insurance company informed her that to keep her coverage, she’d have to replace the entire roof. Hail damage, they claimed. My client couldn’t afford that kind of expense. It would have wiped out her savings. That’s when she came to me. The policy clearly covered hail damage, and any costs to fix the roof should have been covered under the policy.
“We built a strong case. The pressure was on, but I fought for my client and in the end, the insurance company caved. They not only covered the entire roof replacement, but also reimbursed her legal fees.
“There’s a certain satisfaction in taking on these giants, these insurance companies with their established bad habits. It’s about protecting people like my client, people who play by the rules but get taken advantage of. That’s why I do what I do.”
Please note: We currently only work with clients who have property damage insurance claims (no auto claims or uninsured claims).
