Toussaint Cummings is an insurance litigation attorney. He represents property owners and businesses who help property owners pursuant to an assignment of benefits. He also represents property owners whose property has been damaged due to another person’s negligence. Toussaint also has prior experience representing criminal and civil defendants.
He has conducted over 400 depositions of fact and expert witnesses, including medical professionals and corporate representatives.
Upon becoming a member of the Florida Bar, Toussaint served as a Public Defender in Miami-Dade County, where he managed a caseload of over 100 clients charged with serious felonies. He completed the public defender’s trial training program and won 13 out of the 16 jury trials in which he participated.
Toussaint is determined to protect the rights of homeowners whose lives have been disrupted by property damage from an insured or negligent event.
While at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City, Toussaint was a Nathaniel E. Gates Scholarship recipient, a Public Service Scholar, and received the Archie A. Gorfinkel Award for the most promising candidate entering the field of criminal law. He was also an intern for the Criminal Defense Clinic/Legal Aid Society of New York and Note Editor of the Cardozo Public Law Policy and Ethics Journal.
Toussaint is also proud to have served for 8 years as a teacher in the New York City Department of Education prior to commencing his journey in law. He has a Master of Science in Elementary Education.
Toussaint is admitted to practice law in all Florida State Courts and the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Florida.
