Residential and Commercial Property Insurance Claims

Florida Professional Law Group services both residential and commercial property insurance claims.

Residential Property Insurance Claims

You deserve to get the money to have your home repaired and back to normal as quickly as possible. Even small claims can be a major inconvenience to your family’s daily routine. Worse yet, the scope of damage could be much larger than you first thought. For example, water damage may cause mold; structural damage may render your home unsafe. You may be entitled to reimbursement for out of pocket expenses, and temporary housing by the insurance company while your home is being repaired.

Commercial Property Insurance Claims

Property damage to your business can be devastating to your operations and bottom-line. Water leaks, lightning strikes, tornadoes, fires, flooding, and other severe damage can result in a temporary, or even long-term shut-down of your business. You want to get your business up and running as soon as possible, and that’s why you need an Attorney-Adjuster on your side from the beginning of the insurance claim process. Read our 3 Reasons Why You Should Have Representation for New Property Insurance Claims. You may even be entitled to be paid for loss of business income by your insurance company.

Condo & HOA Property Insurance Claims

Property managers, board members and association attorneys find in FLPLG a trusted partner to handle property insurance claims from start to finish. Florida Professional Law Group is ready to take on new claims when damage occurs, or to fight for the association when claims are denied or underpaid and insurance companies refuse to pay all of the money they owe. Condominiums & HOAs can also be prepared in advance and join FLPLG’s turnkey solution for property damage recovery, the Ready NowSM Program. Associations and property managers enjoy peace of mind when damage occurs, because a full assessment and documentation of the property is performed by FLPLG in advance and kept on file for when the unexpected occurs. In addition, timely damage inspection, mitigation services, and claim filing are just one phone call away, whenever needed. The Ready NowSM Program also makes it easier for Board Members to meet their fiduciary responsibility because it shows they were prepared with a thought-out plan and were not struggling for damage recovery solutions after damage occurs.

Our work is usually contingency-based so there is no fee unless we collect money for you. Florida Professional Law group serves the entire state of Florida.

Three things you must do when filing a residential or commercial insurance claim:

  1. Document everything. You’ll want to keep a folder with all relevant documentation. This includes pictures and video of your property’s damage. You should also keep a call log. Your call log should document who you spoke with regarding your home’s insurance claim, what was discussed, the date of the conversation, and what resulted from the conversation. Keep all receipts. If you must make repairs immediately to stop further damage, like tarping a roof, or contacting a plumber to stop a broken pipe leak, keep the receipts. Be sure the receipt includes the company name, a service description, date, cost, and the name of the repair technician. The technician may want to throw away damaged materials after replacing them. Don’t let them!
  2. Keep damaged materials. Technicians may want throw away damaged materials. You should keep them instead. Your policy may require that you make damaged material available for inspection. Even small widgets and plastic components may be important pieces of evidence in your insurance claim case. If your property has experienced roof damage such as broken tiles, keep those too. Pile them up on the side of your property until the claim has been settled to your satisfaction. If you work with our Attorney-Adjuster team, they’ll let you know when it’s safe to discard them.
  3. Remember that anything you say can be used against you. You have an obligation to tell the truth. You don’t have an obligation to guess. Insurance policies contain many complicated provisions that can provide or take away coverage. Guessing about what caused the damage or using a common expression to describe something with a technical definition can give the insurance company a reason to deny your claim. It may pay to get professional help if you’re unfamiliar with the field.
